Parking and Traffic

Parking in Morgantown is a big concern for students. For students, the cheapest parking option is the WVU Coliseum, which is free of charge. Overnight parking is not permitted; students can then catch the PRT at Engineering to travel to the Downtown campus. The city is now ticketing cars parked along the boulevard adjacent to the Coliseum and the Creative Arts Center.

Keep in mind that, during basketball and football seasons, there may be days when parking is severely limited at the Coliseum lot.

On the Downtown campus, the University offers daily short-term parking for students in the Mountainlair garage ($1.50 per hour) or the surface lots ($1 per hour) by the Life Sciences Building on Grant Avenue and on Falling Run Road. These lots fill EARLY in the morning. On the Evansdale campus, the University has six short-term lots ($1 per hour) and the Mountaineer Station garage ($1.50 per hour), located at the base of the Health Sciences Center PRT Station and accessed from Van Voorhis Road. WVU’s short-term parking has a $20 fine per incident for failure to display a valid short-term parking permit. For additional information on citations and short-term parking rates, please contact the WVU Parking Management Office at (304) 293-5502 or visit http://transportation.wvu.edu. Also be sure to visit Parking Management’s Transportation Alternatives page for additional transportation ideas.

City Parking Information
